Liam Sanagan
Genre-clashing post-internet pop.
Bio
Liam Sanagan’s alt-pop music swings between heart-aching folktronica and dance-pop with a twang, a style that emerged from intimate house shows, sweaty dance-floors, and the immediacy of music in the internet age. His work is heavily inspired by classic songwriting heros of the 60s, but borrowing sounds from a mix of contemporary artists like Hannah Diamond, Adrienne Lenker, and Porches. A veteran of the DIY scene with nearly 20 years of music-making, Liam has been a quietly influential figure in the music community in Ontario.
Liam cut his teeth organizing shows and playing countryside gigs as a teen. By 21, his band had caught the attention of Pitchfork, launching him into the music world and laying the foundations for a close-knit musical community. Later milestones include opening for SOPHIE, promoting iconic DIY dance parties, and releasing three career-defining EPs with Swim Good Now.
Now, Liam is set to release Post Everything, an album years in the making with unreleased tracks written across Toronto, LA, and London with collaborations that include Nathaniel Motte from 3OH!3 and Taylor Skye of Jockstrap. The album blends timeless songwriting with adventurous electronic production.
Also a multidisciplinary visual artist, Liam creates his own visuals, blending professionalism with a sense of humo. Each song on this album has its own story, both in its creation and its lyrics. Through the cover art, Liam imagines alternate timelines where these songs were released and are now being rediscovered as creased relics in record store dollar bins.
His music invites listeners into a space of wit and vulnerability, where love and transformation take center stage. With Post Everything, Liam seeks not just listeners but a two-way connection with the audience ready to meet his work halfway.

Cruel Intentions is a melancholic dance-pop track that channels the gritty pulse of Toronto’s 2016 music scene. The song blends echoing chords, haunting flute, and a driving, tech-house beat with lyrics that explore the spiral of self-destruction. The song captures a vivid chapter of his life—spinning records at DIY parties in Kensington Market, surrounded by the raw, dark energy that defined the city’s underground.

With Hell & TV, Liam Sanagan recounts a lifelong obsession with music mythology—from visiting CBGB’s as a 17-year-old punk to playing the Bowery Ballroom a couple years later as a struggling musician. Built around an improvised analog synth jam, the track fuses a krautrock pulse with electronic surrealism, channeling the restless energy that’s fueled his 20-year arc as an artist. The song chews on the addictive power of music and legacy, a pursuit that’s led to his forthcoming LP, Post Everything. Where Breathing Air felt weightless and reflective, Hell & TV is its opposite: urgent, propulsive, caught between past and future. Its forthcoming video captures that fever — it's too late to turn back now.
Liam teamed up with Patrick Marshall on guitar (Burning Love, Fake Palms, Lavoro) to bring a punk edge and Hamilton mainstay Aaron Hutchinson on drums and production.
